Neighborhood Trail: Homes of the Boulevards

Logan Square arguably boasts Chicago’s best-preserved and architecturally varied sections of residential boulevard in the city. With design cues adapted from older, heavier façades along Drexel and Grand Boulevards as well as Lake Shore Drive, the large single-family residences along Kedzie and Logan Boulevards aimed to attract newly affluent buyers looking to settle in what was at the time recognized as a streetcar suburb. Take 45 minutes or more to follow this 1.5-mile trail of highlights along the tree-lined boulevards radiating outward from Chicago’s Logan and Palmer Squares. Photo by Anna Munzesheimer
